How To Find A Realtor® To Sell Your House?

How Do I Find A Realtor® To Sell My Home? : Selling
By J. Fernandez

If you’ve decided to sell your home with a real estate agent, you may wonder, “How do I find a realtor to sell my home?”  This can be confusing for some, as each real estate agent is different.  Their commission rates vary as well as the services that each will provide as part of their fee.  The right real estate agent will help your home selling process go smoothly and will assist you in selling your home more quickly with minimal time involvement on your part.  A real estate agent could be one of the most important decisions you make when selling your home.

One of the easiest ways to find a Realtor to sell your home is to make use of the numerous online resources such as those available from Homegain.com.  At Homegain.com, you will have various local real estate agents competing for your business which could mean huge savings in commissions for you!  All you have to do is fill out a short questionnaire with information such as your zip code, what size home you are selling, and when you would like to sell.  Even though they do request your address, this information is kept confidential and is not forwarded to any of the competing real estate agents.  You will not be asked for your phone number and therefore will not be contacted via phone.  They will communicate with you via email and will have several local real estate agents send you their credentials, business experience, and commission rates to assist you in choosing the right agent for you.

If you prefer to do the leg work on your own, the first thing you may want to do is go to a friend or relative who has recently sold his or her home and ask them, “How do I find a realtor to sell my home?”  If they were happy with the services their real estate agent provided to them and this agent is also a Realtor®, they will gladly offer a referral.  Most real estate agents and Realtors® actually ask previous buyers to pass out their name if someone they know is in the market to buy or sell a home.  This is how they make their living.

Another thing you can do to find the answer to your question of, “How do I find a realtor to sell my home?” is to make a few phone calls to the real estate agents that you see with a lot of listings in your neighborhood.  Make sure, of course, that the real estate agent specializes in selling homes in your area and that he or she is a Realtor®.  Set up a few interviews and ask them about their experience, what rate of commission they will charge, what kinds of advertising they provide, and whether they will charge a lower rate if you find a buyer for your property.

If all else fails and you haven’t made any progress in finding a Realtor®, you can go online to the National Association of Realtors website:  www.realtors.com.  They will be more than happy to help you find a list of Realtors® in your area to choose from.  You can then set up interviews with each of them, ask them all the pertinent questions mentioned above before deciding which real estate agent or Realtor® to hire.
